Reasons to Reject Word-of-Faith Teachings
by Tricia Tillin - http://www.banner.org.uk |
The
roots of the Word-Faith doctrine were firmly planted in the soil
of the metaphysical cults. The errors that produced New Thought
and Christian Science had also produced Word-of-Faith as a Christianized
version. Here are the ten primary reasons that Bible believing
Christians should steer clear of this error.

An
Examination of the Word-Faith Movement
by Richard J. Vincent -
http://www.theocentric.com |
What
group would say such outrageous things like "I am a little
messiah" or "I could have died on the cross instead
of Jesus?" What group would have the nerve to perpetuate
such blasphemous doctrines? Could it be the Jehovah's Witnesses?
the Mormons? the Unitarians? the New Agers? Could it be... the
Christians?!

A
Survey of the Roots and Leaders of the Faith Movement
by Bernie L. Gillespie, Adapted from "A Different
Gospel" by D. R. McConnell
http://www.inchristalone.org |
The
Faith movement gospel is a message ideally suited to the 20th
century American culture. It has grown from being a part of the
charismatic movement to a majority of the same. D. R. McConnell
explains in his book, "A Different Gospel" that the
faith movement is cultic because of its roots and heretical because
of it fruits. As you read this selection, you will be amazed to
learn that the historical origins of the Faith Movement are not
primarily Pentecostal or Charismatic but straight from mind-science
religions.

The
Gnostic Heresy of the Word-Faith Movement
by Chris Simpson |
The
notion that God established spiritual laws that we must apply
in order to get results is a Gnostic belief. Gnosticism is the
"gaining of spiritual knowledge reserved only for special
initiates, distinguished by the conviction that matter is evil
and that emancipation or salvation comes through this special
knowledge." Or, as the teachers of the Word of Faith message
might say, "special revelation knowledge." When there
is no healing observed after an individual has been prayed for,
Word of Faith practitioners will say that there is either a lack
of faith, or that the individual is lacking the knowledge necessary
for divine healing. This position infers that special knowledge
or special formulas are necessary for results, which is a characteristic
of Gnosticism.
